Phil uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the foundation of his approach. Of course, other techniques and tools are also used, as they are needed, to provide a truly eclectic counseling experience. He follows a very relational model of counseling because, In the words of Dr.William Glasser, author of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy, “Unsatisfactory or non-existent connections with people we need are the source of almost all human problems.”

Phil has 9+ years of experience working in multiple aspects of the Juvenile Residential placement and treatment, working with troubled teens. For over 3 years he practiced psychotherapy in a Community Mental Health setting, working with individuals and families from all walks of life and with complex and chronic mental health diagnoses.

In 2008, Mr. Van Kleeck established The Paradigm Group Counseling Services with his friend and colleague Rene del Sol, PhD, LMHC. At Paradigm he served as President of the corporation, Executive Director of operations and full time Psychotherapist. Oh, and he was also the guy responsible for all of the information technology concerns of a modern counseling office.

After 8 years at Paradigm he established BrainClick Online Counseling to provide an online counseling presence providing clients more convenient access to the same quality of counseling offered at the office.


My counseling style is casual. Sometimes I think the less it looks like psychotherapy the more effective it is. It only takes me a few minutes to truly care about my new client. You will be met with what psychologist Carl Rogers called unconditional positive regard; acceptance and respect, as you are, without judgment or evaluation.
Of course confidentiality is paramount. I will be able to guarantee confidentiality from my side of the web cam, but this venue for counseling will require you to take the necessary steps to assure privacy on your end. Find a quiet place, close the door, play soft music to cover conversation, wear headphones if necessary. Finally,… Relax! Slow deep breathes slow your heart and calm your body. You may not be able to see the path ahead, but together we will find the way. I'm confident of it!
